E-SME Features
EKC's Security Management Extensions Facility
E-SME is a client server Application Programming Interface (API) that provides
maintenance services for userids and the resources to which they have access.
Through a TCP/IP connection, security modifications are performed under the administrator's userid.
Extends security requests out to user community
E-SME allows business units to request security changes in a faster, simpler manner.
Through a site-standard tool, a request is entered and sent to E-SME for translation
into the security system's commands necessary.
E-SME automates the process of modifying the security system records.
Connects to Intranet for security requests
E-SME uses your Intranet as a vehicle for client security requests to be sent to your company's
security server. This process automates routine tasks, such as inserting security records.
Enforcement of security policy is insured.
Provides security administration services
Security changes are performed by a server at the request of client applications via a TCP/IP connection.
E-SME allows services such as the addition of new users,
deletion of users, modification of userids, password changes, enabling and disabling users’
access to the system, and the addition or removal of users’ access to resources.
Centralized administration published application programming interface
E-SME enables integration to other products through an application-programming interface.
This feature allows the user to interface between any resident security system
(CA-ACF2, IBM-RACF, CA-Top Secret) and the end product,
such as Tivoli Enterprise or any homegrown application.
Administrator Accountability
E-SME supports the full capabilities of the security system with respect to administrator accountability and authority.
Optional features include:
Performing all updates under the authority of the E-SME server or the authority of the administrator.
Requiring the administrator to submit their logonid and password.
Enforcing all security, account, and scope authorities of the administrator.
Requiring the administrator to have a site defined attribute before E-SME will submit security changes.
Note:  E-SME requires the use of
ETF/A
for CA-ACF2 customers.
